About Sarah Serfling

Percy and Sarah with ribbons.jpg

My name is Sarah Serfling, and I have 19 years of horsemanship experience, which includes both training horses and teaching riders. I enjoy practicing liberty, bridleless riding, classical dressage, groundwork, and foundational western principles, and I have worked with both unstarted and troubled horses.

My education includes coaching from multiple Grand Prix and FEI dressage riders, a 2x Road to the Horse judge and two certified clinicians of Road to the Horse winners, top performers in the liberty and equine theater industry, and a World Equestrian Games reining competitor.

In 2021, I passed my International Liberty Horse Association judging exams in the Freestyle, Liberty, and Bridleless divisions.

I have held positions that include Technical Director of Dancing Horses Theater, Assistant Riding Instructor at Tuskey Dressage, and Head Trainer at LB Equine Sales, LLC.

I was accepted to compete in the Colt-Starting Challenge USA series in 2020 (events canceled due to Covid19.)

I have provided consultation and written curriculum for an equine-facilitated leadership program, implemented by the Equiatude Foundation in Fredericksburg, TX.

In the last two years, I have begun studying with my current mentor, Mark Rashid.  Mark frequently collaborates with the current national leading researcher in equine neuroscience, Dr. Steve Peters, as well as renowned bodyworker Jim Masterson.

TESTIMONIALS

Sarah is an amazing horsewoman who posseses a natural horse sense that has become increasingly rare in today's industry.  Her training and care focuses on the horse's mental health and physical wellbeing above all else, and horses in her care or who have been a product of her work are some of the most well-balanced, relaxed, and healthiest horses I've encountered.  Sarah is a person I want on my team working with me at all times, and has so much to offer the horse industry.  I cannot recommend her and her services enough!"

"I really can’t say enough good things about my experience taking lessons with Sarah. She is extremely knowledgeable and very supportive. She is one of the few trainers I’ve ridden with who truly understands how rider biomechanics impacts equitation in all areas.  She is very focused and I appreciate that I have her full attention during our lessons…for the whole lesson.  I’ve found her expertise in different riding disciplines (reining and dressage) to be very effective in teaching because she has multiple solutions for helping learn to use my body and aids correctly.  Her horses are very well cared for and she’s very diligent about making sure that her students learn good horsemanship habits and to put the horse first before the sport.  All in all I’m so glad I found her and her program because she’s helped me regain the joy and excitement about riding I had when I was young."
